The LSUS Pilots completed their 2005 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Schedule with a 22-8 record, 5 games ahead of the second place University of Mobile Rams who finished 17-13. By claiming the regular season GCAC championship, the Pilots have earned the right to host the 2005, NAIA Region XIII Tournament.
The Region XIII Tournament will consist of 8 teams from the Southern States Athletic Conference and the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The bracket has yet to be set as the GCAC Conference Tournament will be held May 4-7 in Jackson, MS, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the Regional Tournament.
From the SSAC, Lee University received an automatic bid by claiming the SSAC Regular Season Championship; while North Georgia University went on to win the SSAC Conference Tournament to automatically qualify for the Tournament. The remainder of the teams will be decided at the conclusion of the GCAC Tournament Saturday, May 7th, and the Regional Tournament bracket will be released Sunday May 8th.
The qualifying teams will meet Monday May 9th for the Region XIII Banquet at the University Center on the campus of LSUS, and will begin play Tuesday afternoon at 2:30pm.
Pilot Field and Captain Shreve High School will be the two cites used for the first eight games of tournament. At the conclusion of Wednesday’s events, all competitions will held at Pilot Field for the remainder of the tournament. All of the tournaments competitions will be broadcasted live via the internet on http://www.ihigh.com/. |
