Doug Robinson is entering his seventh year as Athletic Director at LSUS. Robinson played college football and baseball at the University of Southern Arkansas, Magnolia, Arkansas. Robinson transferred to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La, where he received his B.S. and M.S.
After graduation Robinson began his coaching career which has spanned over 36 years at both the college and high school levels. He retired September 21, 2002 as the Athletic Director of Southwood High School. In November of 2002, Robinson was named Athletic Director at LSUS. This was not Robinson’s first stint at LSUS, as he was the head coach of the first LSUS Baseball Team which began in 1990. Robinson left LSUS in 1995 when he became the head football coach and athletic director of Southwood High School.
Robinson is the chief architect of the Universities re-entry into men’s and women’s intercollegiate basketball and women’s soccer. Throughout Robinson’s short span as athletic director at LSUS, he has seen the LSUS athletics program reach new heights in each sport. Conference championships have become the standard in both men's basketball and baseball under Robinson, while the women's basketball and soccer programs have also made waves in the GCAC.
Robinson has been happily married to the former Kay Kneipp for 41 years, and they have two sons, Scott and Brian.
“When you surround yourself with good people, good things happen. Our entire athletics staff and university has done an excellent job of supporting our athletics program and making this campus an attraction for student-athletes to attain an excellent education and experience the highest level of collegiate athletics.” - Doug Robinson
