Lance Champagne, M.Ed., ATC, LAT begins his sixth year as the athletic trainer for the LSUS Pilots and Lady Pilots.
A Bossier City native, Champagne graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from LSU in Baton Rouge and a Master’s of Education from Clemson University in Clemson, SC. He earned his national certification in the summer of 2003.
While at LSU, Champagne worked with SEC championship men’s basketball and football teams. He also earned a ring for his efforts with the women’s indoor and men’s outdoor track and field national champions. At Clemson, Champagne worked with the men’s tennis team that finished in the top eight in the country. He was also presented the first annual Terry Lewis Memorial Scholarship presented by the South Carolina Athletic Training Association.
In the summer of 2001, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Champagne to be one of their training camp interns. He then spent five and a half weeks with the Eagles as they prepared for their season. In 2002, he spent a week with the Houston Texans as a mini-camp intern as they readied themselves for their inaugural season.
In addition to his work at LSUS, Champagne has provided additional coverage to other sports teams in the Shreveport/Bossier area. These teams include various high schools, the Shreveport Sports professional baseball club, and the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings of af2.
Champagne was married to the former Lynne Boudreaux of Jennings, LA on January 15, 2005. They welcomed their first child, Adeline Grace, on July 30, 2008. The Champagne family currently resides in Bossier City, LA.
