The Executive Track MBA - Background and Overview:
LSUS is pleased to announce the launch of its Executive Track MBA. The new ET-MBA is built on the foundation of the popular and successful MBA program that has been offered at LSUS for many years. Known for being highly effective in providing a comprehensive education in the primary academic disciplines of business administration, the established MBA program has allowed students to acquire a strong knowledge base with a large variety of skills that have enabled participants to effectively develop an advanced understanding of business and to successfully pursue high-end managerial careers.

The new Executive Track has been specifically developed for participants with prior relevant work experience. Due to the collective professional background of its students and the faculty, the Executive Track program expands beyond the regular MBA experience by allowing all participants to successfully interact in a challenging and stimulating environment designed to resemble top executive settings. Participants enrolling in the Executive Track MBA can thus experience a modern, high-quality executive-level education in a convenient and effective environment, without actually having to complete an entire traditional Executive MBA.

The College of Business Administration at LSUS has long been committed to the growth and wellbeing of the region and its population, and is therefore excited to offer another wonderful new opportunity.

    Application and Program Information:

    1. The Executive Track MBA will formally begin in August 2009, with subsequent admission possible during the spring, summer and fall semesters of each year. However, we kindly invite you to already apply today! Please go to www.lsus.edu/graduate to view and download specific application information and forms. For students admitted between now and May 2009, we plan on organizing a social event to get acquainted with each other ahead of the first semester.
    2. To be admitted into a graduate program at LSUS, applicants must have a minimum 2.5 undergraduate grade point average on the undergraduate degree (on a 4.0 scale) or a 2.75 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 hours attempted in the degree program. In addition, a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) is required on any graduate work attempted. Students meeting these criteria will be unconditionally admitted to the program.
    3. To be admitted into the Executive Track MBA program, applicants must have at least five years of quality professional or managerial work experience, in which they demonstrated leadership to produce planned results in a key project, business unit, company, or other kind of organization. The Graduate Director will help you to determine if you meet this criterion.
    4. We do not require GMAT or GRE scores. In lieu of these scores, the Executive Track MBA Admissions Committee will conduct an interview with each applicant. The interviews will take place in an informal and relaxed atmosphere, and are designed to getting to know each other, as well as becoming familiar with the applicants’ prior work experience. If the professional background does not meet the admission requirements, the applicants are highly encouraged to apply for the regular MBA program.
    5. All Executive Track MBA students with undergraduate business degrees will generally be exempt from taking any of the eight foundation courses and will take the core MBA 700 level courses along with the regular MBA students. Depending on their professional experiences, Executive Track MBA students without undergraduate business degrees may have to take foundation courses. Qualified participants may also be exempt from enrolling in core courses in which they possess a strong practitioner background. All foundation and core MBA courses are taught from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays.
    6. Twelve executive-level modules will be developed that can only be attended by students in the Executive Track MBA program. Students have to take six of those twelve modules. Each module will earn the participant one hour of credit and will consist of three 4-hour sessions, held every other Friday afternoon. Lunch will be provided. The modules will cover exciting cutting-edge topics in business and will be highly interactive and stimulating. All modules will be led by individuals capable of engaging in executive-level interactions and discussions. The modules are also designed to help participants bond with each other to develop lifelong professional relationships. Examples of modules are:
      • Executive leadership
      • Shareholder wealth disciplines and firm value growth
      • Information technology and the modern supply chain
      • Change management and negotiations
      • Strategy execution
      • Innovation and new venture creation
      • Latest advances in marketing research and applications
      • Strategic human resources and competitive advantage through people
    7. The curriculum of each participant will be customized with respect to their quality of work experience and areas of expertise. Students will only be required to take courses that add new value to their professional background based on their prior experience. Naturally, the quality standards of AACSB will be observed. Full-time Executive Track MBA students may complete their degree in as little as 18 months.
    8. Please see the list of the Executive Track MBA courses below. Note that undergraduate business majors will generally be exempt from taking any of the foundation courses, and that if six hours of core MBA 700 level courses are not waived based on work experience and expertise, six hours of modules will count as the two electives. Either way, participants may only be required to take ten Executive Track MBA courses for 30 hours of credit, which is the minimum number required by AACSB for accreditation.
    9. Tuition for each regular course is $500 for instate students. Tuition for each module will be $425 per module or $2,550 for the six required Modules. Why Choose the LSUS Executive Track MBA Program?
