LSUS Announces New Accounting Professorship (6/4/2009)

The LSUS Foundation and Louisiana State University in Shreveport are pleased to announce a new accounting professorship in the College of Business Administration.  Pete and Linda Ballard, friends of LSUS, gave $60,000 to the university which will receive matching funds from the State of Louisiana Board of Regents to establish the Pete and Linda Ballard Endowed Professorship in Accounting.

Pete Ballard served as an instructor of accounting in the College of Business Administration at LSUS from 1998 to 2008.  In 2008, Ballard received the LSUS Foundation Outstanding Faculty Award for Special College Service.

Associate Professor Carl Smolinski has been named the recipient of the professorship.  Dr. Smolinski teaches accounting and business law courses in the College of Business Administration.

Endowments in the LSUS Foundation are created by private contributions that equal 60% of the endowment matched by 40% from the Board of Regents.  Endowed Chairs may be created at $1 and $2 million levels and the professorships at $100,000 and $200,000 levels.  Chairs and professorships may be named by the donors and establish perpetual honorariums or memorials.
