| The LSU in Shreveport Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2009-2010 Board of Directors. New directors are Sandra A. McCalla, Ed.D., Dewey W. Corley, George P. Fritze and J. Peter Gaffney.
Dr. Sandra McCalla attended Caddo Public Schools and earned her doctorate at Texas A&M University. She is currently the principal of Captain Shreve High School and a lifelong resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. In 2005, McCalla established the Earl Gray and Dorothy Adams McCalla Endowed Scholarship in the College of Education and Human Development in honor of her parents.
Dewey Corley is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University College of Business and Tulane University Law School. Corley has served on the board of directors of the Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana, Holy Angels Residential Facility, LSU Health Sciences Foundation and the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife Gigi founded the GREAT Therapeutic Riding program and recently established the Dr. Steven D. Everson and Dr. Bradley S. Everson Honorary Endowed Scholarship in veterinary medicine at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
George Fritze is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the Pat Ryan Finance School in Chicago, Ill. and the Chevrolet School of Merchandising and Management. He is the owner of Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City, which was awarded TIME Magazine’s National Auto Dealer Association Dealer of the Year in 2009. He is a national director for the Boy Scouts of America and a past director of the Shreveport Opera and Shreveport Symphony.
Peter Gaffney is a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Tulane University. Gaffney served in the United States Air Force from 1964 – 1968 and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in 1968. He has served as Chairman of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and the Committee of 100 and was named the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year in 1995.
The two retiring directors are Bobby E. Jelks and George A. Khoury, Jr. Jelks has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1990 and served as President from 1995 – 1996. He served as chairperson of the Foundation’s Audit Committee since 2006. Khoury has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2001 and has served on several Foundation committees. Khoury was also recently elected a Director Emeritus by the Foundation at its annual meeting on June 1, 2009. This is an honorary position which was created to recognize those who have provided exemplary service to the Corporation through service on the Board. He joins Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Kinsey as one of only two past directors who have been given this most prestigious honor.
