LSUS Creates New Presence on Facebook (8/6/2009)

            LSU Shreveport has a new presence on the most popular social networking site on the Internet.  The new LSU Shreveport Facebook page is a helpful tool for future students and parents to connect with each other and faculty, staff, students, alumni and other members of the LSUS family.

The site also serves as an information source by offering current and potential students the ability to post comments, view photos of campus events, watch videos and access important enrollment and financial aid information.  The site includes updated news information as well as easy links to university organizations’ and departments’ pages.

“The new Facebook page is another example of LSU Shreveport expanding its presence into the social media world,” said Mickey Diez, dean of Enrollment Services and Registrar.  “Facebook is the largest social networking site on the Internet so it provides an excellent avenue for our prospective, current and future students and their families.”

Amy Smith, LSUS sophomore, says “Students are logging on to Facebook everyday and the new LSU Shreveport site is a great way for us to connect with each other and keep up with what’s happening on campus.  My friends and I really enjoy seeing the pictures of campus events.”
