Steve Howell

A 1980 graduate of LSUS, Steve Howell has been a contributor to the growth of Red River Radio.  He is a past chariman and a current board member of the Red River Radio Advisory Board and chairs the Five-Year Plan Subcommittee for KDAQ.

Howell was born in Marshall, Texas and raised in Kilgore, Texas.  He is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School.  In 1980, he received a Communications - Journalism degree from LSUS.

He is currently the President of Howell Oil & Gas, Inc., an independent oil and gas exploration and production company; Vice President of East Texas Fuels, Inc., consisting of a chain of convenience store service stations; and President of Moseley Abstract Company, Inc., a title insurance company and abstract plant, all located in Marshall, TX.

Howell is the current State Petroleum Issues Chairman and past East Texas Region Vice President for the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association, the oldest and largest association of independent oil and gas producers and royalty owners in the nation.  He is a member of the Natural Gas Society of East Texas, the American Association of Petroleum Landmen, and the East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen.

Howell is married to Leigh Wilcox Howell.  They have two sons:  Sam Howell, 27, of Longview, Texas, an attorney at law, and Ben Howell, 21, of Marshall, Texas, who works for Weatherford International.  Leigh Howell is a first-grade teacher at William B. Travis Elementary School in Marshall, TX.
