KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the first time in nine polls there is a new No. 1. Georgetown (Ky.), who held the No. 2 slot the last seven weeks, sits on top of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I Men's Basketball Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced today (Feb. 20).
After a loss by then-No. 1 Mountain State (W.V.) back on Feb. 12 to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Georgetown stands as the lone undefeated team in the basketball world at 26-0. The Tigers earned 330 total points and all 11-first place votes.
LSUS moves up one spot to No. 2 while Mountain State falls down to No. 3. No. 4 Lee (Tenn.) stays while Lambuth (Tenn.) vaults up to No. 5, its highest spot this season.
Two teams hop into the Top 25 after receiving votes last week, No. 16 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) and No. 22 Azusa Pacific (Calif.). RMC has won nine of its last 10 and currently holds a 1.5 game lead in the Frontier Conference standings. After a 10-7 start to the year, the Cougars of APU have come back strong winning eight of their last nine. Wins included during that streak are against national contenders Concordia (Calif.) and California Baptist.
