LSU Shreveport to Host Veterans Day Program

LSU Shreveport will host its annual Veterans Day commemorative program on Monday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at the flagpole in the center of campus.

The program will feature Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Timothy Sloan as the guest speaker. During his 22-year military career, Sergeant Sloan deployed in support of Operations Just Cause, Allied Force, the Pan Sahel Initiative, and Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.  As a Weather Observer in Special Operations, this Illinois native earned his coveted grey beret for Special Operations Weather, Master Parachutist wings, Master Military Free Fall Parachutist wings, and Master Military Meteorologist badge. Sergeant Sloan worked closely with all branches of service throughout his time in the military, to include the Army Rangers, the Army Special Forces, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the Navy Seals, and other government agencies. He currently works at Shriners Hospital for Children as a Staff Orthotist. Sergeant Sloan is an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5951 in Bossier City. He also serves as the State Sergeant at Arms for the VFW.  Sergeant Sloan resides in Bossier City, La, with his wife, Christine.
