LSUS Honors Program starts the semester strong

September 04, 2014

The LSUS Honors Program began the fall semester with a full complement of incoming freshmen representing a variety of majors from accounting to sociology.  These first year students will spend the fall studying the history of higher education in literature and film while acclimating to their new lives as college undergraduates. A large team of faculty from disciplines across campus conduct this seminar both in the classroom and in the field.  Students in the sophomore and junior classes read, write, and discuss in small groups with mentor faculty who focus on interdisciplinary cooperation.

Now in its third year, the Honors Program provides exclusive colloquia to qualified students, a dedicated Center that includes private study carrels, a large computer center and lounge, and a fully outfitted lunchroom.  The Program sponsors a Distinguished Author each semester who conducts a seminar and provides a public lecture in the evening.   The LSUS Honors Program is supported in part by funding from the Noel Foundation and the LSUS Foundation.
