October 28, 2015

A violinist and a mime, both from the Piatigorsky Foundation, were the featured performers at a free and open-to-the-public concert Monday (Nov. 2, 2015) at LSU Shreveport. The one-hour concert was held at 11 a.m. in the University Center Theater.

The performers were Linda Rosenthal, the violinist, and Bill Blush, the actor and mime. Through their musical performance and commentaries, they offered "an unparalleled understanding of the classical music pieces and composers," event organizers said.

The concert was sponsored by the Noel Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the Piatigorsky Foundation and the LSUS Department of Arts and Media.

The Noel Foundation, headquartered at LSUS, supports the community by funding select projects that benefit the community and that provide opportunities for individuals. Priorities for civic projects include education, social services and community development.

The Piatigorsky Foundation is named for the renowned cellist Gregor Piatigorsky. Its mission is to make live classical music an integral part of the fabric of everyday lives in communities throughout the United States. The concerts are described by organizers as "both entertaining and educational."
