TKE Hosts Appreciation Luncheon for Faculty and Staff

February 25, 2013

The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at LSU Shreveport threw a faculty and staff luncheon Wednesday Feb. 20th to show their appreciation.

Cody King, TKE’s fraternity Vice President began planning the luncheon back in January. After calling various eateries around Shreveport, King found McAllister’s Deli to help cater the event. King recalls why he and his fraternity brothers wanted to show the faculty and staff their appreciation.

“They don’t teach to live, they live to teach,” King said. “The faculty has not gotten a raise in seven years. Even with that, they still care and give back to the community by producing better leaders.”

As the TKE members made the finishing touches, faculty members began arriving to enjoy the free food and good conversation. They were able to enjoy deli sandwiches, with chips and drinks in the newly renovated UC Ballroom. The smiles across the room stretched from end to end, as Interim Chancellor Sisson showed up to support TKE and enjoy the luncheon.

“This is one of the best ways I have seen the student community coming together to show their appreciation,” Sisson said. “We all appreciate what they are doing, it shows that LSUS is all one family.”

The TKE fraternity plans on holding future luncheons. Not only will these future luncheons be for faculty and staff, the fraternity also plans on holding a luncheon for the athletic department and staff in the near future.
