Academic Works

Academic Works is an online portal to view every scholarship available at LSUS. Most of our scholarships are administered through the LSU Shreveport Foundation and are made possible by university benefactors. First Year Students

First Year Guaranteed Academic Scholarships

  1. LSUS offers guaranteed academic scholarships for full-time students pursuing their first bachelor's degree. No separate application is required. Once you apply for admission, your information will be reviewed, and you'll be notified about the scholarship you qualify for. Acceptance to LSUS is necessary for consideration.
  2.  Details
    1. Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
    2. Scholarships are awarded for four years (excluding summers) for a maximum of eight semesters
    3. Continuous full-time enrollment is required (Minimum of 12 credit hours per semester)
    4. Scholarships are renewed each year provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained and 24 credit hours are earned at the end of each spring semester
    5. Out-of-state students may also qualify for an Out-of-State Waiver

  3.  Deadlines
    1. Incoming first-time, full-time freshmen should apply for admission and submit official ACT scores and high school transcripts by the following dates:
    2. Fall
      1. July 1 for all Guaranteed Scholarships
    3. Spring
      1. December 1 for all Guaranteed Scholarships

ProPELL Scholarships

  1. LSUS provides the ProPELL Scholarship to help Pell Grant eligible students with tuition expenses. This scholarship is available for first-time Freshman enrolling in the fall semester. It covers any remaining tuition balance after Pell Grant, TOPS, and LSUS Scholarships are applied. No additional application is required. Once you apply for admission to LSUS, your eligibility will be reviewed. Acceptance to LSUS is necessary for consideration for the ProPELL Scholarship
  2.  Details
    1. Incoming first-time, full-time freshmen should apply for admission and submit official ACT scores and high school transcripts by the following dates:
      1. Fall: July 1
      2. Spring: ProPELL available for student starting in the fall semester only
    2. LSUS must receive FAFSA by August 1
    3. Must receive a Pell Grant
    4. Must be a Louisiana Resident enrolled full-time in an on-campus program
    5. Scholarship covers remaining tuition after Pell Grant, LSUS Scholarships and TOPS
    6. Scholarship does not cover fees
    7. Awarded for four years (not including summer); or for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters
    8. Continuous full-time enrollment is required (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester excluding summer)
    9. Scholarship is renewed each year provided student is Pell eligible and has remaining tuition

LSUS Foundation Scholarships

  1. The LSUS Foundation and private donors generously fund over $300,000 in scholarships for our students. These scholarships are awarded based upon a variety of criteria, including GPA, program of study, classification, and more.
    1. The LSUS Foundation Scholarships application period is from October – March for incoming freshmen
    2. Scholarships are awarded for the following Fall and Spring semesters
    3. Foundation Scholarships can be searched and reviewed anytime at https://lsus.academicworks.com
    4. Students must be admitted to LSUS before applying for any Foundation scholarships

Transfer Students

LSUS Transfer Scholarship

  1. LSUS offers Transfer Scholarships for full-time students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. No additional application is needed for these merit-based scholarships. After applying for admission, your information will be reviewed, and scholarship recipients will be notified. Remember, you must be accepted to LSUS and meet the requirements to be considered for an LSUS Transfer Scholarship.

    1. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident to qualify
    2. LSUS Transfer Scholarships are awarded for four years (not including summer); or for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters
    3. Continuous full-time enrollment is required (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester excluding summer)
    4. Scholarships are renewed each year provided a 2.0 cumulative GPA is maintained and 24 credit hours are earned at the end of each spring semester
    5. In addition to the LSUS Transfer Scholarship, out-of-state students may also qualify for an Out-of-State Fee Waiver
    6. LSUS Transfer Scholarships are not guaranteed and are dependent on available funding sources

  3. Deadline
  1. Incoming transfer students should apply for admission and submit official documents, including all official college transcripts by:

  3. Spring - November 1

Noel Foundation Transfer Scholarships

  1. The Noel Foundation Transfer Scholarship is generously funded by the Noel Foundation and administered through the Office of Scholarships for full-time students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. Applications for this scholarship are accepted through our online scholarship management website: https://lsus.academicworks.com. The deadline for applications for the 2024-2025 Noel Foundation Transfer Scholarships is May 1, 2024.
    1. Student should be an incoming transfer student that has recently graduated or will be graduating from a 2-year institution
    2. Student must possess a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
    3. Student must not have attempted more than 90 college credit hours
    4. Continuous full-time enrollment is required (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester excluding summer)
    5. Student must be registered at LSUS for the first time in the year of award
    6. Noel Foundation Transfer Scholarships are awarded for two years (not including summer); or for a maximum of 4 consecutive fall/spring semesters
    7. Scholarships are renewed each year provided a 2.5 cumulative GPA is maintained and 24 credit hours are earned at the end of each spring semester
    8. Noel Foundation Transfer Scholarship cannot be combined with the LSUS Transfer Scholarship. If awarded both scholarships, student will have the option to choose which scholarship is applied to their financial aid account

Continuing Students

International Students

International Scholarship

    1. Award
      1. Scholarship equivalent to the non-resident fee
      2. Limited to 8 semesters (undergraduate) or 4 semesters (graduate or doctorial)
    2. Requirements
      1. Undergraduate: Must be an incoming first-time, full-time freshman who has successfully completed secondary school, must have at least a 24 ACT composite or other equivalent, and have secondary school GPA of at least 2.0 as converted on the U.S. scale.
      2. Graduate: Must be an incoming graduate student who has been admitted to an LSUS Graduate Program.
    3. Retention Requirements
      1. Continuous, full-time (12 or more hours for undergraduate) or (9 or more hours for graduate) enrollment each fall and spring semester through the census date
      2. Minimum 2.5 GPA (undergraduate) or a 2.75 GPA (graduate) at LSU Shreveport
      3. Earn a minimum of 24 credit hours (undergraduate) or 18 hours (graduate) at the conclusion of each spring.

International Transfer Scholarship

  1. Award
    1. Scholarship equivalent to the non-resident fee
    2. Limited to 6 semesters (undergraduate), 3 semesters (graduate or doctorial)
  2. Requirements
    1. Must have earned a minimum of 15 credit hours (undergraduate) or 9 credit hours (graduate) from an accredited University or College
    2. Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA (Undergraduates) or 2.5 GPA (graduate) on all previous college credits
  3. Retention Requirements
    1. Continuous, full-time enrollment (12 or more hours for undergraduate) or (9 or more hours for graduate) each fall and spring semester through the census date
    2. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA or 2.75 cumulative GPA at the conclusion of each semester
    3. Earn a minimum of 24 credit hours (undergraduate) or 18 credit hours (graduate) at the conclusion of each spring

F-2, Dependent Scholarships

  1. Must be a part-time student since this visa does not allow full-time student status.
  2. Award
    1. Scholarship equivalent to 50% of the non-resident fee
  3. Requirements
    1. Must be an F-2 visa student and meet requirements for admission
    2. Must not enroll in more than 9 credit hours (undergraduate) or 6 credit hours (graduate) per semester, i.e., must be a part-time student
  4. Retention Requirements
    1. Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA (Undergraduate) or 2.75 GPA (Graduate) at LSU Shreveport

LSUS Foundation Scholarships

  1. The LSUS Foundation and private donors generously fund over $300,000 in scholarships for our students. These scholarships are awarded based upon a variety of criteria, including GPA, program of study, classification, and more.
