Why LSUS’ accounting degree program?

Accounting majors at LSUS can choose between two tracks, general accounting and public accounting. The general accounting courses cover a vast majority of topics relevant to the CPA exam, while the public accounting track helps students complete the general business and accounting requirements to sit for the CPA exam in Louisiana.

Students choosing a major in Accounting may pursue a concentration in Public Accounting that aligns with the State of Louisiana CPA requirements and serves as the educational foundation as preparation to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination.

As an LSUS accounting major, you can take a two-week course studying ‘Issues in European Business’ in Lüneburg, Germany!

In order to become a CPA, an individual must pass the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination. The LSUS School of Business offers the courses required to sit for the CPA exam. In order to meet the 150 credit hours requirement, many students consider completing both a Bachelor's degree and an MBA. The CMA exam is administered by the Institute of Management Accountants. One step to becoming a CMA is to obtain a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. A Bachelor of Science degree from the LSUS College of Business can fulfill this requirement. For additional information about the CMA, visit https://www.imanet.org/cma.

An undergraduate degree in Accounting from LSUS provides a good start toward obtaining a CFE designation. In addition to a Bachelor's degree, a candidate must sit for the exam and be a member in good standing of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
