LSU Shreveport Career Services can help you realize your career goals and develop professionally before graduation. By helping you navigate your career decisions, you'll be able to confidently search for and secure experiential opportunities, and translate your classroom knowledge into real-world success. Before graduating, Career Services hopes to help you do three things:

Feel confident about your major and career path;
Learn how to uncover internship and job leads in the field you hope to enter; and
Understand how to present yourself to employers and/or graduate school admissions representatives effectively, both through written materials and when speaking to them.

Career Services is eager to help you work toward your career goals! We can assist you with things such as choosing a major or career, writing a resume, preparing for interviews, and job or internship searching. Employer Partners

At LSUS, we have a centralized online job board called HANDSHAKE, a service we offer to our employer partners free of charge. This system enables Career Services to share information about your organization and the opportunities you are offering with students and alumni quickly and efficiently. It is also the entry-point for recruiting.

In addition to posting opportunities on Handshake, there are a number of ways you can build your brand on campus, some of which you can utilize right now if you have urgent needs you'd like to fill. Here are a few ways you can connect with our students:

Participate in our Fall or Spring Career and Internship Fair.
Offer information sessions in collaboration with faculty or student organizations connected to majors from which you typically recruit. Contact us first and we’ll help arrange everything!
Select a day to come to campus and interview folks for 1st round, screening interviews.

Faculty and Staff Resources

Career Services is dedicated to supplementing the academic preparation faculty provide in the classroom by fostering students' development outside of it.

GUEST LECTURES
One easy way that Career Services can offer support is by filling in on a day when you are absent. We can also guest lecture while you are present. We are equipped to present on a variety career-related topics ranging from a 15-minute presentation to a 75-minute session. Here are a few examples of topics we can cover with your students:

HELPING YOUR STUDENTS GET EXPERIENCE
Career Services manages an online job board called Handshake, which houses hundreds of part-time, internship, and full-time roles. Handshake offers folks curated lists of opportunities based on their classification, program or study, and geographic preferences. Beyond offering a wide array of opportunities that they can apply for, Handshake also recommends career development workshops and resources that can help a student develop their professional skills.
