How It Works

At the beginning of each semester, you select what amount you'd like to allocate into your Pilot Dining Dollar account and whether you want your financial aid to cover it or utilize a credit card.

For example, if you consider that a traditional semester is 16 weeks (about 3 and a half months) long:

* Per Semester – if you were to eat 2 meals per day, that would be 160 meals @ $11.00 average = $1,760.00

* Per Semester - if you were to eat 1 meal a day, that would be 80 meals @ 11.00 average = $ 880.00

* Per Semester - if you were to eat 3 meals per week, that would be 48 meals @ 11.00 average = $528.00

How does using my financial aid for Dining Dollars work?

Students can use their financial aid credit balance to purchase Dining Dollars. A credit balance is the amount remaining after your financial aid is applied to your tuition, fees, and other university charges. Please be aware that if your financial aid does not cover the cost of Dining Dollars, you will be responsible for the remaining balance. Any deficiency will appear on your student account as a receivable, which may prevent future registration and could lead to possible collection activity. To calculate your credit balance, login to myLSUS, go to "Financial Aid Awards," and total the aid per semester. Then subtract the tuition and fee charges listed in "My Financial Summary."  Also, consider if you have used your credit balance to purchase books in the University Bookstore. If you have any questions, please contact the financial aid office at 318-797-5363 or finaid@lsus.edu.

What if I don't use all the money in a semester?

No problem! If you purchase Pilot Dining Dollars and don't completely use up that amount in a Fall semester, the balance will roll into Spring. If you do not use all of the dollars in Spring, it rolls to Summer.

It is important to note that Pilot Dining Dollars will not roll from Summer into Fall. So, if you don't use all of your Pilot Dining Dollars in the Summer, your remaining balance will be deleted from your Pilot Dining Dollars account before the new Fall Semester begins.

Can I get a refund if I don't use all my Pilot Dining Dollars?

We cannot issue refunds on Pilot Dining Dollars.

Can I add money to my account whenever I want?

A student's designee (parent, spouse, etc.) can also purchase/add money for them through the portal but only up until the 5th day of class for the semester.

When will I need to purchase my Pilot Dining Dollars and can I change options after I have selected?

Dining Dollars will be offered for purchase at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. You will not be able to start a new PDD account in the Summer, only Spring and Fall. Students (or their designee) will be able to elect Pilot Dining Dollars after registration when a new semester opens. Students will be able to add/drop/change options up until the 5th day of class for the semester, after which no add/drop/change can occur for that semester.

If I have questions, who do I ask?

Any questions can be submitted to PilotDiningDollars@lsus.edu.
