SHREVEPORT – Two LSUS staff members have been recognized as honorees in the 40 Under Forty Awards.
Accounting coordinator Tamika Hayden and athletics director Lucas Morgan are in the running for awards at the Dec. 1 gala hosted by the Young Professionals Initiative of Northwest Louisiana and presented by The Forum.
Hayden is approaching her first work anniversary at LSUS while Morgan has led LSUS athletics since 2016.
Hayden, who holds degrees from Southern Shreveport, Wiley College and Grambling State, is an active member of the community.
She is the founder of Destined for Greatness Dance and Leadership Development, a nonprofit organization mentoring young girls.
“I am honored and grateful to be among the distinctive class of 2023,” Hayden said. “It is a rewarding feeling for others to value and appreciate you and acknowledge your hard work and dedication.
“This class is filled with diverse and innovative young professionals in leadership who are having a major impact in their communities. This is only the beginning for me, and I will continue my efforts in making a positive impact through service and commitment.”
Morgan has guided LSUS through one of its most successful stints in its athletics history.
With the men’s and women’s soccer teams each winning Red River Athletics Conference regular season titles this fall, LSUS has won 27 league championships and made 25 national tournament appearances in Morgan’s tenure.
Baseball and basketball are among the best NAIA programs in the nation and are regular national championship contenders.
An active member in the NAIA governance structure and two-time RRAC Athletic Director of the Year, Morgan has successfully upgraded facilities and raised money to continue to keep LSUS competitive at a national level.
“I’m truly honored to be recognized with this impressive class while representing LSUS,” Morgan said. “Our athletic department staff and student-athletes work hard to make a difference in our community, and I’m grateful for their commitment and excited to share this honor with them.
“Congratulations to Tamika and the rest of the honorees.”
