SHREVEPORT – Years of creating works of art will be rolled up into one night for eight LSUS digital arts seniors, who will present their portfolios Thursday at The Robinson Film Center as part of the Digital Arts 2023 Portfolio Senior Exhibit.

Graphic design will be the main art form as seniors attempt to catch the eye of advertising and marketing firms looking for new hires.

Campus and community members as well as industry professionals are invited to attend the free event, presented by The Ruth Herring Noel Endowed Chair, with an RSVP to LSUSPortfolio23.eventbrite.

The presentation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with hors-d’oeuvres and beverages provided.

“There will be a lot of illustrations, branding as well as some 3D art and computer-generated models,” said Rachel McDonald, digital arts assistant professor in charge of the event. “This night is the culmination of the entire program for these students, who have been taking creative classes since they’ve started.

“It’s a super important event because even if you don’t get employment directly from this night, it’s a great opportunity to network and develop contacts for the future.”

Featured students include Cassidi Ebarb, James French, Mariel Guerin, Sarah Hammonds, Britnie Joyce, Rachel McCauslin, Sarah Smith and Sarah Wynn.

Local advertising and marketing firms will be in attendance, which creates an opportunity for the LSUS program to continue developing connections.

“It’s important to get the word out about our program, which has great facilities and faculty who are professionals in their own right,” McDonald said. “The students are discussing their work in a professional setting after spending so much time creating it in a classroom.

“But it’s also a networking opportunity for us as a department, too.”
