Shreveport, LA – LSUS Continuing Education is offering a third session of the in-demand legal Careers in Cannabis course beginning October 19, 2021. The legal cannabis industry in the United States is growing exponentially as more states legalize the use of cannabis for medical and recreational purposes, and LSUS wants to be at the forefront of educating people in the region about this rapidly developing market.
“As a higher education institution, our mission is to prepare people in this region to receive the best education and workforce skills to be successful in their future careers,” said Dr. Julie Lessiter, Ed.D., Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives for LSU Shreveport. “We are offering this course a third time because there is a demand in our region to continue the discussion and to provide much-needed education around the legal cannabis industry.”
The five-week non-credit course will meet from October 19 through November 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. In addition, students have the option of attending both in person and via a live-streaming option for those who cannot attend in-person or are uncomfortable being in a classroom setting in the current pandemic. Topics covered by local industry experts will include growing hemp, basic plant biology, clinical research on cannabinoids, laws and regulations, and the marketing of cannabis products.
