SHREVEPORT – College students and alumni from across the Shreveport-Bossier will descend on LSUS to meet with 100 business and government organizations as part of the 2025 Regional Career Fair.

The March 20 career fair serves as a matchmaking event between soon-to-be college graduates and employers. The fair will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will have groupings of employers by industry.

Students and alumni from LSUS, Centenary College, Southern in Shreveport, Bossier Parish Community College, Northwest Technical Community College and Northwestern State University College of Nursing will wind their way through employer booths on the second floor of LSUS’s University Center.

Companies and graduate schools from Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Arkansas will be hunting for their next employees and students.

Industries most represented include K-12 education, healthcare, defense and law enforcement, financial services, manufacturing, hospitality and casino, and government.

Positions include full-time as well as part-time and internships.

Jennie Flynn-McKevitt, director of career services at LSUS, said attendees should come prepared with their resume and a wish list of employers with which they’d like to speak.

“Make sure to update your documents like your resume, and bring enough copies for all of the employers you plan to talk to,” Flynn-McKevitt said. “Prepare an introduction for what you will say when you step up to the table.

“This introduction should include name, major, when you’re graduating, and any projects or skills you want to highlight to kick off the conversation.”

LSUS students can use an app called Handshake to see a list of organizations and the specific jobs for which they are hiring.

Students can also access a Career Fair Quick Tips sheet that includes a list of organizations and resume resources

Flynn-McKevitt said more than 150 jobs are posted with that number expected to increase as the fair gets closer.

Want to feel prepared before you walk in?

LSUS Career Services is hosting a session today (March 7) from 11-Noon about preparing for the career fair and resume sessions on March 12 and March 13 (from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.) in the Student Success Center.

Professional headshots can also be taken March 12 from 11-Noon in the Student Success Center.

Flynn-McKevitt advises students who aren’t nearing graduation to attend as well.

“Even if you’re not specifically looking for an internship or a job, just come to see who is excited to hire you,” Flynn-McKevitt said. “Make connections, get comfortable talking to people, and learn about the opportunities that might be good things for you to pursue in the future.

“You’ll be surprised by what you find.”

Recommended dress is business attire, but at least business casual for students that might not have access to professional attire.

In addition to all of the participating colleges, Courtyard by Marriott is a sponsor of this year’s career fair and will provide fresh-baked cookies to the first 150 attendees.
