Shreveport, LA - Students enrolled in Louisiana State University Shreveport’s 100% Online Masters of Science in Nonprofit Administration, under the direction of Program Director/Interim INAR Executive Director Dr. Heather Carpenter, presented research at The West Coast Nonprofit Data Conference. The conference was hosted by UT Austin’s RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service and Texas A&M’s Center for Nonprofits and Philanthropy on April 1-2, 2022. The West Coast Nonprofit Data Conference started in 2004 to connect scholars and students of the nonprofit sector and is now an annual gathering for emerging and leading scholars in the field of nonprofit and philanthropic studies, emerging research and methodological problem solving, new data sources, new methods, new technologies, and new findings about the nonprofit and voluntary sector in the western U.S.
“These students further developed their capstone projects into academic research studies,” said Dr. Heather Carpenter. “We are grateful to Dr. Tibor Szarvas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, for funding this initiative which provided an opportunity for students to receive supportive feedback from nonprofit sector professionals and scholars.”
Under the advisement of Dr. Carpenter, students submitted proposals that were evaluated and accepted by the conference committee. Kaley Renee Sullenger and Herman Dickey, both recent MSNPA graduates, presented research that was conducted in conjunction with their MSNPA capstone course, Nonprofit Directed Project. Nicole Stork is a current MSNPA student and a graduate assistant who presented research conducted alongside Dr. Carpenter about nonprofit economic data in the state of Louisiana.
