SHREVEPORT – On the heels of two enrollment records this year, LSUS will also set a record for the number of graduates at the fall commencement ceremony.
LSUS will confer 1,558 college degrees Friday during the university’s fall commencement exercises at Brookshire Grocery Arena.
The previous LSUS record for number of graduates was 1,355 this past spring as Friday’s total is an increase of more than 200 diplomas.
More than 1,350 of Friday’s graduates will receive an advanced degree.
The Master of Business Administration (899), the Master of Health Administration (201) and the Master of Education (176) represent LSUS degrees with the most graduates.
Six scholars completed the doctorate of education in leadership studies, double the amount of any recent semester.
The graduate nonprofit administration program is another experiencing rapid growth as its 47 graduates is more than double the number who walked the stage this spring (22).
LSUS will award 209 bachelor’s degrees Friday.
Business degrees (77) led the way with general studies (31), biological sciences (17) and education (13) reaching double-digit graduates.
This fall’s graduating class represents LSUS’s 15th consecutive class of at least 1,000 graduates.
Fourteen students will receive certificates, 12 in undergraduate business fundamentals and two in graduate-level nonprofit administration.
Friday’s ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
No tickets are required to attend the event, and graduates can invite as many guests as they would like to the 14,000-seat arena. Parking is free.
The ADA entrance is located on the north side of the building, which includes a wheelchair accessible ramp. Parking lot A is reserved for handicapped guests.
The ceremony will be livestreamed through the LSUS YouTube channel.
