Pilot Community,
On January 3rd I announced that due to the ongoing impact of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, LSUS would provide instruction for the first two weeks of face-to-face classes through remote learning and resume in-person classes on January 24th. Below you will find updated information as we prepare for in-person classes next Monday.
Face-to-Face Classes: In-person classes will resume on Monday, January 24th at their regularly scheduled times. Students should consult their Moodle courses for times and locations. Students with questions should contact their instructors. The Provost and the Academic Deans are evaluating the capacity of classrooms for appropriate distancing. If there are any changes to class locations, we will update students and faculty before Monday.
Online Classes: Online classes will proceed as scheduled.
Mask Wearing: Masks are still required indoors on campus. Additional information on COVID policies and procedures can be found on the LSUS COVID-19 Resource Page: https://www.lsus.edu/coronavirus-updates
Vaccination and Boosters: Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our community. The LSUS vaccination mandate remains in place. Unvaccinated students, faculty, and staff will continue weekly testing protocols. Those who are eligible for the booster shot, as outlined by the Louisiana Department of Health, are strongly encouraged to get the booster before returning to campus.
Testing Procedures: The test site is located on the first floor of the Business Education (BE) building and is open from 8:30am – 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday and 8:30am – 1:30pm on Fridays. The nasal swab rapid test will take approximately 5-10 minutes. Students will receive proof of testing through their LSUS email each time they test, which will be required for unvaccinated students to participate in some extracurricular activities, such as athletics, leadership positions, etc. Additionally, students will not be required to take weekly COVID-19 tests if they submit proof of a positive COVID test within the past 90 days. Once that 90-day period has expired, they will be required to either receive the vaccine or begin weekly testing. Proof of a positive COVID test should be sent to covidtesting@lsus.edu. Proof of vaccination should be submitted at https://lsucommunity.iad1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aXiuvOCUy0FVzxQ.
As always, we will continue to actively monitor trends related to COVID-19 throughout the semester and may alter our operational plans accordingly. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation as we work to keep all members of the LSU community safe and healthy.
Pilot Strong,
Larry Clark, Chancellor
