SHREVEPORT, LA. - LSUS Men’s Soccer’s Maurice Theart has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
“I am really happy for Maurice,” said LSUS Head Coach Phillip Bohn. “He is a pleasure to coach and works so hard for the team. He has been in good form with goals in three straight games including two very good goals in consecutive games.”
Theart enjoyed one of his finest weeks of the season as the Pilots hosted two conference opponents this past week in Shreveport. Against Houston-Victoria, Theart connected on a shot from well outside the 18 for his third goal of the season. Also against the Jaguars, he notched an assist and a total of three points. He continued his successful play two days later against Huston-Tillotson. Against the Rams, he was able to get a foot on the ball inside the 18 and curve one right to the top corner of the net. He totaled two shots against the Rams en route to helping the Pilots win, 3-0.
The Pilots will be back in action on Thursday, October 7th as they take on Red River Athletic Conference opponent LSU Alexandria. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. CT from Alexandria, Louisiana.
